We are now preparing the meditation area in front of the Buddha.

Next to the Buddha we have created a pond with a waterfall that holds Japanese carp and lotus plants.

One of the most common and popular mudras that are depicted on Buddha statues is the Bhumisparsha Mudra, translated as the "Earth Touching Gesture".

Statues of the Buddha  with this mudra are commonly known as the

"Earth-Witness" Buddha.

The Buddha meditated all night to overcome the fears and temptations sent by Mara, and then called the Earth Spirit to witness touching the ground that He, the Buddha, achieved enlightenment underneath the Bodhi tree.

Temple bell has arrived from Japan

This bell was made for a Japanese temple in 1855 and now has found a home here at Dharma Vista Zen Center.

It stands over 24 inches. It's wonderful sound will call the sangha to Zazen meditation.

Old Buddha Statue from Thailand

The sangha created an earthen mound for the large stone slab to be installed on top, to be used as the Buddha statue base.

Jason positions the base stone.

Jason moves the old Buddha that came from Thailand to it's new place at the entrance of Dharma Vista Zen Center.

Fine tune leveling by John and Jason.

A hundred years ago, who would have looked at this Buddha and imagined it would cross the Pacific ocean to North America? Buddhism has encircled the world.

Gassho.

When you see the Buddha turn right to enter Dharma Vista Zen Center gate.
