Building the footing that will hold water for the onyx stone base to waterfall into.
The large stone will sit ontop of the foundation. Water will flow from the top of the stone to the footing. on top of this stone Kannon will stand.
The Buddha Statue is installed with a foundation.
We are now preparing the meditation area in front of the Buddha.
Next to the Buddha we have created a pond with a waterfall that holds Japanese carp and lotus plants.
One of the most common and popular mudras that are depicted on Buddha statues is the Bhumisparsha Mudra, translated as the "Earth Touching Gesture".
Statues of the Buddha with this mudra are commonly known as the
"Earth-Witness" Buddha.
The Buddha meditated all night to overcome the fears and temptations sent by Mara, and then called the Earth Spirit to witness touching the ground that He, the Buddha, achieved enlightenment underneath the Bodhi tree.
2024
The plans are approved. Plans have gone through Flood Control Permits Pima county. We had to get a structural engineer to help the architect with the plans.
The 30' X 50' foundation has been laid. Next comes the building erection this fall.

The outdoor kitchen will cook vegetarian meals for the Zen Center and the homeless in Tucson.
Building the 40' X 60' Japanese Zendo.
This bell was made for a Japanese temple in 1855 and now has found a home here at Dharma Vista Zen Center.
It stands over 24 inches. It's wonderful sound will call the sangha to Zazen meditation.
Molie came to us from LA California via Malaysia, to help in building our Zen Center and to cook the center's vegetarian meals.
She has practiced Buddhism for 35 years.
Old Buddha Statue from Thailand
The sangha created an earthen mound for the large stone slab to be installed on top, to be used as the Buddha statue base.
Jason positions the base stone.
